Donald “Dewey” Quibodeaux

Donald “Dewey” Quibodeaux, 83, passed away peacefully at his residence in Crowley on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, after a courageous battle with kidney and lung cancer.
Dewey was born Aug. 3, 1933, a son of the late Dennis and Wava Quibodeaux. He served as a PFC (E3) in the United States Army from the years 1953-1955. Dewey was a Korean War veteran and remained as an Army Reservist until he was honorably discharged in 1961. Shortly after his release from active duty, Dewey married Barney Belle Hanks in 1956. Over the years he was employed by various oilfield companies as a roughneck, driller and tool-pusher. He ended his employment career working in the refinery plants.
Dewey enjoyed the outdoors and spent his spare time gardening and hunting. After retiring he spent most days at Bullets & Bows with his son, Kenny. He loved visiting with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a long-time member of Northside Assembly of God Church, Dewey spent many mornings at the church lifting up his family in prayer.
Dewey is preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Wava Quibodeaux; and two brothers, Wade and Gerald Quibodeaux.
Dewey is survived by his loving wife, Barney Hanks Quibodeaux of Crowley; one daughter, Sharon Walker of Gonzales; one son, Kenneth Quibodeaux and his wife Michelle of Rayne; three grandsons, Dustin Quibodeaux and his wife Kacey of Prairieville, Henry Richard and his wife Kirsten of Greenwell Springs and Bryan Quibodeaux and his wife Meghan of Crowley; one granddaughter, Crystal Quibodeaux of Rayne; and seven great-grandchildren, Ty and Evans Quibodeaux, Brodie and Brooklyn Richard, Brylie Kehrer and Avery and Lena Quibodeaux. He also leaves one brother, Percy Quibodeaux and his wife Joyce of Sulphur along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Barney and the entire family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Hospice Compassus of Lafayette for the excellent care they provided for her and Dewey over the past several months. Each staff member including, Lauren, Tricia, Taylor, Haley and Bro. David were true blessings and their service will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held at Northside Assembly of God Church in Crowley on Friday, Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial will be immediately after the service at North Crowley Hanks Cemetery.
Ourso Funeral Home of Donaldsonville will be handling the services under the direction of Dewey’s grandson, Dustin Quibodeaux.
The family requests all donations be sent to further Christian education at Northside Christian School in memory of Donald “Dewey” Quibodeaux, 809 E. Northern Avenue, Crowley, LA 70526.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at Bethel C.M.E Church, 320 West Hutchinson Avenue, Crowley, for Lucille Corbins. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. at the church.
Lucille departed this life at the age of 88 as a patient of Acadia General Hospital on Aug. 26, 2016. Lucille is survived by one daughter, Cynthia C. Scott (Dexter Jr.); and one son, Russell L. Corbins Jr., both of Crowley.; one sister, Ethel Grice of Opelousas; two brothers, John Smith of New York and Joseph Grice of Las Vegas; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Mrs. Corbins is preceded in death by her husband Russell Corbins Sr.; one daughter, Mary Corbins Meralla; one grandson, Ryan Corbins; her parents, Eli and Mary Grice; two brothers, Robert and Marshall Grice; and two sisters, Ella Thorns and Mable Grice.
Officiates are Revs. George and Nerma Chretian. Interment will be held in West Crowley Cemetery.

Surrounded by love and family, Ramona “Mona” Raymond Hunter died peacefully on Aug. 27, 2016, in her home. Mona was born on March 30, 1917, in Rayne to the late Adeline and Antoine Raymond.
She graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge in 1935. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Davidson Hunter; her sons, John Davidson Hunter, M.D., and Raymond K. Hunter, D.D.S.; and grandson, John Davidson Hunter III, Ph.D
Her memory will be forever cherished by her children: Diane Hunter and her children, Kevin Hunter, Mark and Jill Hunter, and their children, Jake and Haylen and Scott and Denton Hunter, and their children, Brady and soon to arrive McLain; Sara Wolfe and her children, Layne and Gary Gambel, and their children, Elizabeth, Sara and Ellen, Mary Hunter and her husband Bryan McCann, and their children, Booker and Seamus; and Miriam Sierig and her children; Rahel, Ava and Clara. They are additionally joined by many other dearly loved nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Modern Hospice and Nursing Care Connections with a special thanks to her caregivers, Glenda, Sallie, Paula, Taletha, Magdalane, and Rosa.
Gran-Mona, as she was affectionately called, had a passion for life, a love of learning and reading books. In addition, her incredible love of music was infectious to all who knew her. At 99 and a half, she was a force to be reckoned with – her wisdom was woven through the generations that came after her. She lived by her motto to always look forward and never look back. Her passion for life, learning and love for others was a bar set high that we all strive to follow.
A celebration of her richly lived life and abiding faith will be held at Rayne Cemetery in Rayne at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 3, with a graveside service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Lonnie Mims Sarver, 77, who died Aug. 30, 2016, in Crowley.
Rev. Jim Hoffman will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Lonnie Dale Sarver and Marlon Sarver and his wife Susan; four sisters, Gwen Petry and her husband Jeffery, Peggy Smith and her husband Jimmy, Linda Foreman and her husband Glen and Terry Billeaud and her husband, Danny; two brothers, Bubba Sarver and Don Sarver and his wife Sherry; two sisters-in-law, Willie Belle Sarver and Betty Perrodin; one brother-in-law, Clyde Comeaux; eight grandchildren, Amy Beglis, Cassie Miller, Amanda Shoffiett, Jacob Sarver, Robert Sarver, Taylor Thibodeaux, Logan Sarver and Austin Sarver; and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sarver is preceded in death by his wife, Jonel Comeaux Sarver; one daughter, Vickie Sarver Miller; two sons, Troy and Kirk Sarver; his parents, Mims and Inez Sarver; and one brother, J.B. Sarver.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Sarver, Robert Sarver, Logan Sarver, Austin Sarver, Greg Sarver, Guy Sarver and Bronson Sarver.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Sarver, Don Sarver, Darrel Romero, Danny Billeaud, Glen Foreman, Jeffery Petry and Jimmy Smith.
The family would like to thank his caregiver Dana Duhon for her love and devotion to Lonnie.

Fr. Jude Thierry, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mr. Hebert is survived by five daughters, Bridget Ann Hanks and her husband Jeff of Iota, Jacqueline Gayle Regan and her husband Gene of Egan, Jill Colleen Wriborg and her husband David of Iota, Gaylen Michelle Esthay and her husband Claude of Iota and Caroline Yvette Hebert of Iota; three brothers, John Albert Hebert of Crowley, Richard Wayne “Pee Wee” Hebert of Iota and Ernest Michael Hebert of Iota; his step-mother, Rita F. Hebert of Iota; two stepsisters, Carmen Reed Sims of Winnsboro and Nancy Reed Bourgeois of Church Point; one stepbrother, Dean P. Reed of New Roads; eleven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joycelyn Sittig Hebert; his parents, Harvey H. Hebert Sr. and Ruby Ann O’Quain Hebert; and one brother, James Patrick Hebert.

A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, Aug. 30, at 6:30 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Sarah Ann Trahan, 54, who passed away at her home in Rayne on at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016.
Visitation began Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. in the funeral home chapel in Rayne with the recitation of the Rosary 6:30 p.m. Visitation resumes on Thursday, Sept. 1, at from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Burial will be in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Duson.
Survivors include her fiancé, Raphael Faul of Rayne; her mother, Annie Lou Trahan of Duson; three sisters, Delores Trahan and Chris Faul of Duson, Mary and husband John Breaux of Lafayette, and Ramona and husband Brent Faul of Duson; two brothers, Dave and wife Sandra Trahan of Duson, and Daniel and wife Tamara Trahan of Lafayette.
Ms. Trahan was preceded in death by her father, Dalton Trahan.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ella Mae Boulley Aiguier, 87, was celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 3 p.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne.
Father Kevin Bordelon, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, served as celebrant. Interment followed in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home of Rayne, with a Rosary being recited at 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
Mrs. Aiguier passed away on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, in a Crowley health care facility.
A native of the Kinder area, and a longtime resident of Rayne, Mrs. Aiguier was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a caregiver/sitter for many years.
Mrs. Aiguier enjoyed reading, spending time with friends, and caring for her family. She also enjoyed dancing, and was known to love life and live it to the fullest.
Survivors include her sons, Don Boulley and wife Ann of Scott, and Rod Boulley and wife Terry of Rayne; brother, Carl Langley and wife Paula of Jennings; grandchildren, Ashley Broussard and husband Brandon of Lafayette, Amanda Trahan and husband Donavan of Marble Falls, Texas, and Jason B. Boulley of Rayne; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Broussard, Ashlin Broussard, Tyler Broussard, Kayli Trahan, Olivia Trahan, and Audra Trahan.
Preceding Mrs. Aiguier in death were her first husband, Murley Boulley; second husband, Cecil Morris Aiguier; parents, Phil and Lucinda Pete Billeaudeau; and sister, Rena Monceaux.

Rev. Clint Trahan of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Morse will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services.
Survivors include his mother, Rose Belle Breaux of Rayne; brother, Shane Moreaux and wife Gina Chiasson Moreaux of Rayne; nephew/godchild, Luke Moreaux of Rayne; godmother, Laura Leger of Rayne.
He was preceded in death by father, John “Johnny” Gerald Moreaux; paternal grandparents, Foston and Aline Moreaux; maternal grandparents, Nettie and Estelle Breaux; godfather, Alvoid Breaux.
A Rosary was prayed Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 3, at a 11 am at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel for Herman “Freddie” “Bully” Fredrick Morgan Jr., 79, who died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at his residence in Rayne.
Interment will be in the Rayne Cemetery Inc. in Rayne.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Dischler Morgan of Rayne; two daughters, Stephanie Morgan Garrett and husband Tommy of Rayne and Daphne Morgan Simoneaux and husband Peter of Eunice; two sons, Kevin Morgan and wife Beryl of Mandeville and John Morgan and wife Joan of Crowley; eight grandchildren, Meghan Simoneaux Richard, Annie Belle Simoneaux, Madeleine K. Morgan, Grace Morgan, Anna Claire Morgan, Lily K. Morgan, Link W. Morgan and Julianna Morgan; daughter-in-law, Linda Guillory; and sister-in-law, Winona “Pat” Cartwright.
He was preceded in death by son, Herman “Ricky” Fredrick Morgan III, father; Herman “Dago” Fredrick Morgan Sr.; and mother, Beatrice Belle Link Morgan.
Born and raised in Rayne, Bully was a life long participant and supporter of 4-H programs, especially the livestock shows. Whether it was cattle, sheep or goats, he was easy to find in and around his beloved farm in Link or sale barns across South Louisiana. He was a farmer and rancher and a 27 year veteran of USDA/APHIS as an Animal Health Technician. Known for his easy going style and generosity, many have turned to him for advice over the years regarding their livestock operations or 4-H projects. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and especially loved spending time with his family on the farm. Daddy was simple, direct, hardworking, and very generous with his time and knowledge. He had a no nonsense approach to life and was not shy about letting you know where you stood with him. He was a throwback to simpler times and often joked he was born in the wrong century as he was a cowboy at heart. We will miss him dearly.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne on Friday, Sept. 2from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 3, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations could be made to LSU Foundation 4-H State Livestock Show, 104 G Efferson Hall 104 LSU Union Hall, Baton Rouge, LA 70803.

DUSON - Funeral services for Kalie Joseph Cormier, 34, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in Duson.
Mr. Cormier died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at The Carpenter House.
Visitation was from 8 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.
Survivors include four brothers, Herbert Mouton, Kenry and Hilton Prevost and Priest Cormier; four sisters, Veronica Cormier, Leona Jones, Beatrice Mouton and Martha Solomon; and his guardian, Dallas Mouton.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Theresa Cormier; father, Joseph Johnson; sister, Mary Mouton Bossier; and guardians, Mary Mouton Clark and Audrey Mouton.
Mr. Cormier loved to play basketball, fish and cook.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, Sept. 1, at a 1:30 p.m. service at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel in Rayne for Rosa Belle Hanks Arceneaux, 88, who died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at Rayne Guest Home.
Interment was in the Arceneaux Cemetery in Rayne.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Stelly Lavergne and husband Vic, Sandra Arceneaux, and Tricia Arceneaux Arceneaux and husband Troy; son, Daniel Arceneaux and wife Cheryl; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herby Arceneaux; son, Lee Roy Arceneaux; granddaughter, Brittany Arceneaux; father, Delino Hanks; mother, Solange Begnaud Arceneaux; two sisters, Rosa Mae Hanks Stelly and Lucille Hanks Benoit; and six brothers, Dolphy, Joseph, David, Theobert, LeRoy and Elton Hanks.
A Rosary was prayed Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 7:30 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home.
The family requested that visitation be observed in Gossen Funeral Home in Rayne on Wednesday, Aug. 31, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Thursdaym Sept. 1, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Pallbearers were Glen Lavergne, Aaron Arceneaux, Derek Arceneaux, Tyler Arceneaux, Andrew Arceneaux and Devon Bardash.
The Arceneaux family would like to give a special thanks to Rayne Guest Home and its staff for the last nine years for taking great care of Rosa Belle Hanks Arceneaux, and also Heart of Hospice and its staff.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, Estherwood, for Ernie Istre, 63, who died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at 7:49 p.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center Southwest.
Fr. Randall Moreau, Pastor of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, will officiate for the services with Msgr. Russell Harrington con-celebrating. The family requests visiting hours Friday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A rosary will be recited Friday at 7 p.m. Burial will be in the Estherwood Cemetery.
He was employed by the Acadia Parish School Board as custodian and maintenance supervisor. He was an avid hunter having been a founding member of the Cajun Hunting Retriever Club. Also, was the permanent grand hunt committee chairman for HRC. He enjoyed coaching softball for many years. Enjoyed horse racing, and entertaining family and friends. Above all, he was a loving husband, father and “Poppey” to his eight grandchildren.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 39 years, Becky L. Istre of Estherwood; one daughter, Kristy I. Meyer and her husband Frank of Rayne; one son, Ernest “Boo” Istre and his wife Carissa of Lyons Point; his mother, Gertie Myers Istre of Estherwood; two brothers, Billy Ray Istre of Gueydan, Michael Istre and his wife Shelley of Estherwood; and eight grandchildren, Kelsey Istre, Khloe Istre, Kelly Istre, Emilee Meyer, Lizzie Meyer, Frank Meyer IV, Eva Grace Meyer and Gracie Rae Meyer.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Ray Istre.

He was survived by his wife, Erica C. Fr. Randy Moreau, pastor of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Estherwood, will be officiating for the services. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
The family requested the visitation be held on Monday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. in the Duhon Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. A Rosary was recited on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the evening in the Funeral Home Chapel in Crowley. Visitation will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 8 a.m. until time of services.
Survivors include one son, Wesley Broussard of Estherwood; one daughter, Yvette Broussard of Crowley; one brother, Michael Broussard of Church Point; one granddaughter, Bethany Broussard of Houma; one stepdaughter, Kimberly LeBlanc of Sulphur; two stepsons, Ray Morvant of Jennings and Norbert Morvant of Little Chenier; one step-grandson, Devon Morvant of Lake Charles, and one step great-grandson, Sebastian Morvant of Big Lake.
Mr. Broussard was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa Menard Broussard; his second wife, Audrey LeBlanc Broussard; his parents, Dallas and Vivian Istre Broussard; one granddaughter, Donna Lynn Broussard; one step-grandson, Jody “L.J.” Seaux; one brother, Edwin Broussard.
Mr. Broussard served nine years in the National Guard and 32 years on the railroad as a welder.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Hilda Alice Dore’, 68, who died Sept. 11, 2016, in Crowley.
Fr. Mikel Polson, pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A rosary will be led by Deacon Tom Sommers at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. A private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date.
Hilda was born in Crowley and graduated from St. Michael Catholic High School. Her grandchildren were the love of her life. She faithfully followed each of them to every sporting function; cheering the loudest.
She is survived by two daughters, Christie K. Reviere and her husband Joey of Baton Rouge and Kim K. Foreman and her husband Ryan of Crowley; one son, Trey Keigley of Lafayette; three sisters, Diane D. MacDonell and her husband Dennis ”Mac” of Amelia Island, Florida, Judy D. Waligura and her husband Randy of El Campo, Texas, and Phyllis D. Owens and her husband Ronnie of Crowley; two brothers, Al Dore’ and his wife Mona of Crowley, LA, and Elliot Dore’ and his wife Sandi of Crowley; and six grandchildren, Eric Reviere, Dylan Reviere, Alex Foreman, Brook Foreman, Andrew Reviere and Cameron Foreman.
Hilda is preceded in death by her parents, A.B. and Phyllis Elliot Dore’ Jr.
Pallbearers will be Al Dore’, Elliot Dore’, Dennis “Mac” MacDonell, Randy Waligura, Ronnie Owens, Chad Waligura and Scot MacDonell.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Ben Anthony Meyer Sr., 87, of Rayne will be celebrated on Friday, Sept. 16, at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rayne. Father Samuel Fontana, associate pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will serve as celebrant. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2 Mausoleum, Rayne.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 15, from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m., with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. in Gossen Funeral Home, Rayne. Visitation will continue on Friday, Sept. 16, from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers are Reid Latiolais, Gregory Lormand, Jean Hebert, Steven Dollison, Charles Vondenstein and Dale Primeaux.
Mr. Meyer passed away on Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at 7:21 p.m. in a Crowley health care facility.
A native and lifelong resident of Acadia Parish, Mr. Meyer worked for many years as a farmer. He also served as manager for Dore Rice Mill Packing Plant, and worked for Doyle’s Welding, as well as other businesses. He served in the Army National Guard, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Meyer was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and his greatest joy in life was caring for and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughters, Dora Meyer of Rayne, Phyllis Hebert and husband Jean of Rayne, Susan Dollison and husband Steven of Rayne, Billie Meyer of Rayne and Cindy Vondestein and husband Charles of Rayne; son, Ben Meyer Jr. of Rayne; sisters, Marjorie Simar of Crowley, Sylvia Cochran and husband Claude of Pasadena, Texas, Anna Lois Lormand and husband Francis of Crowley and Doris Guidry of Crowley; brothers, Harold Meyer and wife Carol of Crowley, Lee Meyer and wife Shirley of Crowley, and Ronald Meyer of Conroe, Texas; daughter-in-law, Angela Alexander of Rayne; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way.
Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Falcon Meyer; sons, Daniel Meyer and Donald Meyer; great-grandson, Lucas Donnelly; brothers, Gerald Meyer and Henry J. Meyer Jr.; and parents, Henry J. Meyer Sr. and Elna LaFleur Meyer.
