
Funeral services were held for Mary Stoute at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at Duhon Funeral Home-Crowley Chapel with Evangelist Robert Morales and Brother Karl J. Stout officiating. The family requested that visitation be held from noon on Wednesday, April 27, until 10 p.m. and resumed on Thursday at 8 a.m. until just prior to the time of service. Interment will follow the chapel service and will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley.
Mary Breaux Stoute departed in the early morning of April 26, 2016, at her home in Crowley. She was born on Dec. 2, 1931, in Crowley. She was 84 years old and the oldest of four children, including one sister who passed away as an infant.
Her father and uncles, Ophey and Amadie Breaux, were part of a French musical family and were instrumental in the writing of the famous Cajun song, “Jolie Blanc.” Her aunt, Cleoma Breaux Falcon, married to well known Cajun musician Joe Falcon, also recorded the first Cajun record in Louisiana; her brother, Dale Breaux was also a well known musician in the Acadiana area.
Mary was a kind and loving person to all that knew her and would help anyone in need. She loved the LORD and read her Bible daily. Mary will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by one son, Ronnie L. Stoute and wife Wanda Stoute; two step-granddaughters, Sabrina Bourque and husband Butch, Sonia Sonnier and husband Gerard; one step-grandson, Randall J. Credeur and wife Tara; five step-great-grandchildren, Keisha Evans and husband Troy, Cody Sonnier, Trevor Sonnier, Kaleigh Credeur and Joel Credeur; three great-great grandchildren, Keaton, Reece and Addisyn Evans; and caregivers, Darlene Morgan and Rhonda Wilkerson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stoute; parents, Clifford Breaux Sr. and Lucy Bellard Breaux; and two brothers, Clifford Breaux Jr. and Dale Breaux.
Pallbearers will be Gerard Sonnier, Randall Credeur, Troy “Bear” Evans, Cody Sonnier, Trevor Sonnier and Keaton Evans. Honorary pallbearers will be Joel Credeur and Reece Evans.
Mrs. Stoute’s family wishes to express sincere thanks to the entire staff of Hospice Compassus, Drs. Robert Aertker and Joshua Mammen and the Acadia General third floor staff for their care and compassion in this time of Mrs. Stoute’s family’s needs.
