
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for Gloria Knott Cart, 81, who died June 14, 2016, at The Carpenter Health Center in Lafayette.
Fr. Matthew Higginbotham, pastor of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church will be officiating for the services. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home of Crowley. A Rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m. Friday. Interment will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Gloria was born in Arnaudville and resided in Crowley. She graduated 1953 from Mount Carmel High School in Lafayette and from Hotel Dieu of Nursing in New Orleans. She retired as a nurse from Professional Home Health at the age of 72. Her love and knowledge of nursing helped many throughout Southwest Louisiana. Gloria loved music, dancing, art, reading, traveling and her French heritage. She was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 5153 in Arnaudville, Acadia Parish Homemaker Club, Beta Sigma Phi of Crowley, Crowley Art Association and Professional Business Women’s Club. She hosted families for twinning of Vaux-sur-sure; and foreign exchange students from Belgium and France.
She is survived by two daughters, Julie C. Broussard and her husband Rusty of Maurice and Nancy C. Villejoin and her husband Daryl of Crowley; one son, Blufford J. “Scooter” Cart III and his wife Rachel of Prairieville; one sister, Betty Joyce Devillier of Arnaudville; one brother, Carroll John Knott of Arnaudville; six grandchildren, Gregory Villejoin and his wife Jill, Brayton Broussard, Grant Broussard, Meghan Cart Poche and her husband Shawn, Ethan Cart and Evan Cart; and three great-grandchildren, Emerson Poche, Aniston Poche and Ava Villejoin.
Mrs. Cart is preceded in death by her husband, Blufford Joseph “B.J.” Cart Jr.; her parents, Madaire and Marie Willingham Knott; one sister, Helen Joyce Knott; and her nephew and godchild, Karl Keith Devillier.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Malorin, Brayton Broussard, Grant Broussard, Evan Cart, Ethan Cart, and Gregory Villejoin.
