A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Louis C. Bertrand, 84, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Crowley with Rev. Matthew Higginbotham as celebrant. The family has requested that visitation be held at Duhon Funeral Home - Crowley on Friday, May 13, from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6 p.m. and will resume on Saturday at 8 a.m. until just prior to the time of service. Interment will follow the church service and will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery “New” in Rayne. Mr. Bertrand passed away peacefully on Monday, May 9, 2016, at his son’s home in Spring, Texas.
Mr. Bertrand is survived by his son, Kenneth L. Bertrand and daughter-in-law Marie Bertrand of Spring; stepson, Wilton Gautreaux; stepdaughters, Eva Thibodeaux and son-in-law Ray of Egan, Dorothy Simon and son-in-law Clyde of Crowley; grandchildren, Chastity, Natalie, Adrienne, Tristen, Coby, Kevin, Britt, Shawn, Chad, Richell, Vaughn, Mike and Brandi as well as numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Delton Bertrand and his wife Clara of Crowley; and sisters, Beatrice Johnson of Crowley, Anna Lee Abshire of Crowley and Vargie Mae Crosby of Mire.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Rita Richard Bertrand; brothers, Huey Bertrand, Larry Bertrand , Clifton Bertrand and Joseph Bertrand.
Pallbearers will be John Miller, Brooklyn Miller, Mike Johnson, Jeff Johnson, Keith Bertrand and Buddy Bertrand.
