A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Iota for Ronnie “Bert” Bertrand, 54, who died Monday, May 2, 2016, at 5 a.m. in Egan.
Fr. Jude Thierry, pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. “Bert’s” cremated remains will be buried at Bertrand Cemetery at a later date.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Annette Reed Bertrand of Iota; two sons, Randall Bertrand and wife Keisha of Maxie and Robby Bertrand and wife Jena of Egan; two sisters, Carolyn Matte and husband Dale of Rayne and Karen F. Brignac of Evangeline; two brothers, Burt Fruge and wife Yvonne of Iota and David Fruge and wife Bobbie of Mermentau; eight grandchildren, Cameron, Cayli, Caydance, Lexie, Allison, Randall “Lil Red”, Parker and Adalyn; and a special aunt, Patsy Crochet of Hathaway.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille LaCombe Bertrand; his father, Camille Bertrand; his stepmother, Jeanette Tramel Bertrand; and one sister, Sue B. Garrie.
Pallbearers will be Randall Bertrand, Robby Bertrand, Burt Fruge, Brent Reed, Sydney Broussard and Gary Hebert Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Parker Bertrand and Randall Bertrand II.
