Richard Hanks Sr.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at Northside Assembly of God Church for Richard Hanks, 88, who died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at 7:05 p.m. at Lafayette General Southwest Campus Hospital in Lafayette.
Mr. Hanks was a native and lifelong resident of Crowley. He was lifelong member of Northside Assembly of God Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Rev. Loyd Singley, Rev. Gerard Morgan and Mr. Hanks’ grandson, Rev. Matt Hammersky, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Hanks is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy S. Hanks of Crowley; two daughters, Cheryl Javadzadeh and husband Hamid of Crowley, Donna Hammersky and husband David of Houston, Texas; one son, Mark Hanks of Port Arthur, Texas; two sisters, Lillian Morgan and Estelle Foreman, both of Crowley; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Carla Jo Hanks of Crowley.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard “Rick” Hanks Jr.; his parents, Elzy and Julia Stafford Hanks; one daughter-in-law, Terri Hanks; two sisters, Florence Broussard and Katherine Sarver; and one brother, Elzy Elton Hanks.
