
A Mass of Christian burial for Verda Ann LeJeune Andrepont of Basile will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Iota on Tuesday, March 22, at 11 a.m. with Father Jude Thierry officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Jennings on Monday, March 21, from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. The family request that visitation resume on Tuesday, March 22, beginning at 8 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.
Verda was born in Egan on Nov. 2, 1917, to Mark LeJeune and Maria Leger LeJeune. She was called from this life on March 14, 2016.
Verda graduated from St. Francis High School in 1935, then she went on to attend Spencer Business College. In 1961 Verda graduated with her Practical Nursing degree from T.H. Harris in Opelousas. Verda worked for Jennings American Legion Hospital, Calcasieu Parish Health Unit and Acadia Parish Health Unit, where she was affectionately known as “Andy” by her co-workers. In her spare time, Verda enjoyed crocheting, flowers, and gardening. She was also a member of the St. Augustine Ladies Altar Society in Basile.
Verda is survived by her three children, Earline Oliver of Egan, Gene Andrepont of Nederland, Texas, and Wayne Andrepont and wife Mary of Port Arthur, Texas; eight grandchildren, Darla Webb and husband Kenny of Egan, William “Billy” Oliver and wife Sonya of T-Mamou, Deborah Murrell and husband Jeff of Egan, Rhoda Roy and husband Roderick of Lyons Point, David Oliver and wife Jennifer of Egan, Shane Andrepont and wife Lee of Kingwood, Texas, Tammy Andrepont of Scott, and Wendy Mazet and husband Jean-Luc of Austin, Texas; 25 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Charlisa Dupaquier of Mandeville.
Verda is now rejoicing in heaven with her parents, Mark and Maria Leger LeJeune; her beloved husband of 44 years, Rufus J. Andrepont; eight brothers, Elmo, Henry, Francis, Hugh, Myles, Larry Joe, Ray and Carl LeJeune; four sisters, Wava Mouton, Mertrice Regan, Lois Cooper and Patricia Bullard; one son-in-law, William “Bill” Oliver; and one daughter-in-law, Jane Dupre Andrepont.
