The family and friends of Mazel M. Lege are mourning the loss of their loved one who was called from this life on March 13, 2016, at the age of 76.
Mazel was born in Gueydan to Louis Abshire and Lucy Hebert Abshire on April 18, 1939. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking blackberry pies for her family. Mazel loved to read, play Yahtzee and any kind of card games. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mazel is survived by her two sons, Matthews Lege of Morse and Mark Lege (fiancée Brandy) of Morse; three daughters, Pat Perry (Steve) of Crowley, Charlene Nolan of Morse and Christine Maynard (Ronnie) of Morse; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Mazel was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Lucy Abshire; her beloved husband, Jo Jo Lege; one brother, Manson Abshire; four sisters, Effie Adams, Doris Libersat, Louise Simon and Evelyn Bertrand; and one son-in-law, Russell Nolan.
Funeral services will be held at Matthews and Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Wednesday, March 16, at 2 p.m. with Reverend Woody Gunnels officiating. Burial will follow in the Gueydan Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Tuesday, March 15, from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. and will resume on Wednesday at 8 a.m. until the time of her funeral service.
Carrying Mazel to her final resting place will be Caleb Maynard, Cade Sonnier, Brady Lege, Kenny Lege, Clint Henry and Jeremy Suire.
