Levy Clarence ‘LC’ Leger, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Levy Clarence “LC” Leger, Sr., 84, who died Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 5:45 p.m.
Fr. Mikel Polson, Pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 8 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Woodlawn Mausoleum.
Levy Clarence Leger, Sr., was born on July 5, 1931, to Clarence Levy Leger and Lillian Duplichain Leger. He grew up in Egan and attended school in Egan before starting to work on the farm, and then in the oilfield. He is best remembered for the many years he worked at Rice City Tractor (which became Quality Equipment) until his retirement. His laughter and mechanical knowledge of farm equipment endeared him to the many farmers who knew him and respected his ability to fix most any problem.
“LC” is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marguerite Huval Leger, whom he married on November 25, 1951. He is also survived by one son, Levy C “Butch” Leger, Jr. and his wife Gwen of Iota; two grandsons, Thomas Dugas and his wife Renee of Iota, Jonathan Leger and his wife Nakyshia of Beaufort SC; seven great-grandchildren, Jeanne, Zachary and Gregory Dugas, all of Iota, and Melody, Ariya, Sebastion and Samson Leger all of Beaufort SC; one brother, Roger and wife Louise; two sisters, June Simar, and Patricia Comeaux and husband Leto all of Egan; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Pommier of Loreauville, and Georgia Huval of Lafayette; brother in law, Cleo Huval and wife Betty of Crowley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding “LC” in death are his parents, his brothers-in-law, Ray Simar, Harvey Ledoux, Stanley Huval, Clifton Huval, and Loicy Pommier.
The family of “LC” wishes to thank, Damian Broussard, the nurse practitioner who helped tremendously and made himself available when needed. Thank you also to Louisiana Hospice & Palliative Care who made this journey with “LC” and the family, along with the volunteers, Neil Richard, who came regularly to play his guitar and sing, and Ms Joyce Fontenot for her many visits to them. Finally, a very special thank you and debt of gratitude to the loving caregivers who assisted in caring for “LC”, Dot Sonnier, Catha Doucet, Erika Rutherford,  Paulette Coleman, Pat LeJeune, Gina Dupuis,  Janice LeJeune,  and Susan Boone. These ladies made the journey with the family and have become like family.
Pallbearers will be his grandson and nephews.
